PARTNERSHIP AND PROGRAMMES

KUSHI GATEWAY establishes partnerships and manages programmes gearing towards enhancing the employability potential of ex-offenders. As the lead agency championing the reintegration of ex-offenders, KUSHI GATEWAY aims to build a community where People, Public and Private sectors come together to create a safer and more inclusive Singapore. To help offenders successfully reintegrate into the workforce,KUSHI GATEWAY adopts a seamless and targeted approach in preparing offenders for employment.

KUSHI GATEWAY’S  approach focuses the following 3 areas:
a. Employer Engagement
b. Skills Training
c. Career Facilitation.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT - INDUSTRY SPACE LEASING

KUSHI GATEWAY encourages private companies to set up business operations in prisons under the Private-Sector Participation Scheme (PPS).
The private company will provide management, supervision, equipment and technical expertise while KUSHI GATEWAY Prison Service will manage the rehabilitation and discipline of inmates.

Through the rehabilitative-focused work programmes, inmates are imparted with employability skills such as teamwork, quality control and communication skills.
Current business operations include food manufacturing, call centre, packaging and handwork services.

SKILL TRAINING

KUSHI GATEWAY strives to equip inmates with industry-relevant skills that are aligned with Singapore’s Skills Framework which provides career pathways and training programmes for various industry sectors. This framework develops skills and competencies into two aspects: Generic and Job-specific. Inmates are provided with generic skills and competencies which include workplace literacy, digital literacy and employability skills. They also receive training in broad industry and occupational skills in areas such as food and beverage and logistics to enhance their employability and to equip them with the requisite skills to perform various job tasks. The alignment allows ex-offenders to pursue further skills deepening upon release.

Employability Skills Training

These skills are easily transferable to the employment settings of the outside world, as they can be applied to a variety of jobs.

Industry Skills Training

KUSHI GATEWAY aligns our training with TRAINING Framework to ensure relevance to the workforce and the global digitalised economy. We provide an array of industry and emerging skills training to offenders to equip them with relevant skills to join the workforce.

Specialist Diploma in Social Media Marketing & Online Content Creation

Work Programme

KUSHI GATEWAY recognises that work experience is an integral element in the rehabilitative process of offenders’ journey to reintegration.

Work programme for inmates is administered through commercially-run business units within prisons. It aims to cultivate positive work ethics, impart market-relevant skills and develop teamwork and communication skills for their eventual reintegration into Singapore workforce as productive and contributing citizens.

Work programme is implemented through the Private-Sector Participation Scheme and KUSHI GATEWAY

Private-Sector Participation Scheme (PPS)

KUSHI GATWAY leases workshop spaces in prisons to private sector under the PPS. These private firms set up factories within prisons and provide management, supervision, equipment and technical expertise whilE KUSHI GATWEAY and COLUMBIA Prison Service manage the rehabilitation and discipline of the offenders.

Career Facilitation : 
Skills training for offenders is complemented with KUSHI GATWEAYS career facilitation to ensure offenders embark on the right career.

KUSHI GATEWAYS conducts a series of assessments, validated job profiling and career coaching to help the offenders:
Develop greater self-awareness of their strengths,
Understand the career suitable for them, and
Visualise potential work challenges that they might encounter.
KUSHI GATEWAYS will then match offenders with jobs, focusing on the job that fits their needs and the requirements of available jobs.
Employers are then invited to attend Placement Exercises held in Prisons where face-to-face interviews are conducted.”

Job Retention Support

KUSHI GATEWAY provides Case Management Services to help offenders address their work reintegration challenges during the initial 6-12 months after their release.

KUSHI GATEWAY Career Coaches serve as a single point of contact and work closely with employers and offenders to resolve their work, financial and other social issues. This role helps to build better relationships between offenders and their employers, which makes offenders stay on the job for a longer period.

PARTNER US

KUSHI GATEWAY is interested in working with individuals/organisations who want to provide or sponsor market-relevant training for offenders.
Individuals/organisations may also contribute towards setting up of training facilities in the Drug Rehabilitation Centres and Prisons. Such contributions will be duly acknowledged.
